September can still be summer. November is fully winter. October is the bridge. The trees go yellow, then orange, then bare. The afternoons get short fast. The first proper rain of October is the moment the year tips over.
We wait for that rain every year. It is when the clothes we make stop being a half-thought and start being the thing you actually want. Heavy cotton. A boxy hood. A long sleeve. Pockets that fit your hands.
It rained yesterday. It will rain again on Friday. The studio is ready.
